Common Questions

What you might be wondering

Plain answers to the questions we hear most often.

Do you take my insurance?

We bill Medicare Part B and some health plans directly, and the practice keeps its list of plans in the insurance details. We do not bill Medicaid. If your plan is not on the list, it may still reimburse part of a visit as out-of-network care; your plan decides.

What is a superbill and how do I use it?

A superbill is an itemized monthly receipt you can send to your plan to ask for reimbursement. It lists a diagnosis code, which your plan will see. Your plan decides whether it pays, and we cannot promise that it will.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what care will cost before you start. We give you one in writing. It is an estimate and not a contract, and you can dispute a bill that comes in $400 or more above it.

How much does it cost and how do fees work?

Your fee for a first visit and for each visit after is given to you in writing before you begin. How fees work explains insurance, paying yourself, receipts and checking your benefits.

Can I use an HSA or FSA card?

Yes. Health savings and flexible spending cards are accepted for visits you pay for yourself.

What happens in the first session?

Your first session is about connection. Dr. Meadows explains how privacy works, asks what you would like from the work, and listens. There is no pressure to share everything at once.

How often and how long are sessions?

A standard session is about 50 minutes. Dr. Meadows sets the pace with you, and you decide together how often to meet.

Are you licensed where I live?

Dr. Meadows is licensed in Colorado. Visits by video or phone are for people who are in Colorado at the time of the visit. If you live elsewhere, we are glad to help you look for a clinician licensed where you live.

What do I do in a crisis?

Vale is not monitored around the clock. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 any time. In an emergency, call 911. The crisis and resources page lists more places to turn.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

What you share stays between you and Dr. Meadows, with a few exceptions the law sets, such as a serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else. She explains these limits in your first session.

Do you see teens or children?

No. Vale is a practice for adults, aged 18 and over. We can help you look for a clinician who works with younger people.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please give 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a visit. A later cancellation may be charged, up to the fee for the visit. Life happens, so write to us as soon as you can.

“I came in unsure what to expect. By the end I knew what the next visit would look like, and that was enough.”
